Whether you're trying to troubleshoot or understand how PriceShape works it's important to know how product information travels between PriceShape (Orange area) and the business (Dark blue area).

Shop system

All "data circles" are born from the shop system. In PriceShape we refer to the shop system as wherever our clients' product data is stored, therefore it covers a wide range of it-systems from e-commerce website platforms to ERP systems which we also often see working together both when importing data from PriceShape output feed and exporting data into the input feed.

Input feed

The input feed is more or less duplicated product information from the Shop system. Try to think of the feed as an export from the Shop system - this export contains product information like price, title, brand, id, cost-price, etc. The feed needs to be updated regularly or it will quickly be outdated and this will reflect the data in PriceShape.

PriceShape

We are now entering the PriceShape platform. PriceShape imports and replicates all the information from the input feed and this replica is presented in the product list.

Now PriceShape adds all the vendor data into the equation and it's now possible to compare your products to the market data.

Output feed

Just like the input feed is a duplicate of the Shop system information, the PriceShape output feed is a duplicate of all the available data within PriceShape. This information is extracted by the Shop system which now overwrites the product prices in the backend.

New product information is now added to the Shop system and the "data circle" comes to an end. This also means that the input feed is most likely outdated and needs to be synchronized once again.
